  • April was a record month for Canadian existing home sales.  Average selling prices and dollar volume were also at new highs.  In fact, Canada’s average home sold for over $300,000 for the first time ever.  Sources:  Ottawa Citizen and Edmonton Journal
  • The average price of a home in Northwest Territories was $328,904 in April, up 15% from last year.  That’s $29,000 more than the average price in Ontario.
  • Scotiabank gained market share during its 2nd quarter as its mortgage assets grew 17%.
  • Triad Guaranty received federal approval to offer mortgage default insurance in Canada.  It is now seeking its provincial licenses.
