Mortgage Jobs – Canadian Tire: Manager, National Mortgage Operations


Position Summary:

The Manager of National Mortgage Operations is responsible for day to day management of mortgage lending operations, including all mortgage underwriting, fulfillment, funding and core back-end servicing functions. The successful incumbent will also be responsible for establishing and maintaining a sound National Mortgage Operations environment and applying proven best practices to assure the continued success and performance of the organization. This role requires a thorough understanding of mortgage underwriting, pipeline management, appraisal reviews, underwriting exception process, mortgage fraud, turn around times and funding requirements within a non branch based mortgage processing environment.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Build and manage a dynamic team of mortgage professionals that are tasked with executing day to day mortgage underwriting, fulfillment, funding and servicing goals.
  • Foster a team environment that aligns to the company culture yet owns their collective vision to support the rapidly growing Retail Banking initiative.
  • Ensure the CTB mortgage portfolio complies with all government regulations and mortgage lending guidelines. This includes ensuring awareness and full compliance of all regulations, policies, guidelines, procedures, practices and code of conduct imposed.
  • Monitor and manage operational costs by leading efforts to develop and implement process improvement and automation initiatives.
  • Ensure consistent delivery of high quality mortgage lending services to customers through meeting or exceeding customer expectations, monitoring the mortgage pipeline, aligning or redeploying resources to manage the ever changing mortgage pipeline, executing processes with efficiency and high accuracy standards and demonstrating good business judgment.
  • Support the roll out of key Retail Banking initiatives such as launching new products, system changes, etc. that will allow the organization to meet its’ volume and efficiency targets.
  • Establish and maintain close working relationship with appropriate roles in the business to facilitate open and direct communication of issues, needs and queries that foster efficient, prompt and professional resolution and communication.
  • Provide secured lending guidance to staff and peers.

Qualifications / “Must Have” Skills:

  • Possess 10+ years experience in residential mortgage operations (underwriting through servicing)
  • Possess 5+ years experience managing and building a mortgage operations team
  • A creative, “out of the box” & quick thinker, yet has a thorough and systematic approach to operations
  • Have the ability to quickly focus on priorities and perform root cause analysis when issues arise
  • Consistently maintain internal and external confidence and relationships
  • Works well in a team environment with strong oral and written communication skills
  • Results oriented, and client focused, as well as passionate about quality
  • Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel and Powerpoint

Assets / “Nice to Have” Skills:

  • Working knowledge of Filogix Express
  • Working knowledge of Wealthview Banking platform
