Home Stretch for CMP Award Voting

CMP-Awards-2011Ten days remain to nominate your favourite mortgage person or company for this year’s Canadian Mortgage Awards.

Billed as the mortgage industry event of the year, over 1,000 nominations were submitted last year, in 20 categories.

The awards honour individual mortgage brokers, brokerages, underwriters, BDMs, lenders and even websites. Here is a list of all categories.

You can make your nominations online by clicking here.

Seven of this year’s 21 categories are decided through a combination of reader polls and judge deliberation.

“There are a few popular vote categories where we account for the number of votes but even here, the judges have the final say,” says Marie Small, Marketing and Communications Associate at KMI Publishing & Events.

“But, in the non-popular vote categories, it only takes one nomination for the judges to consider you.”

Organizers have added a new category this year called “Mortgage Broker Network of the Year.” It sprang up out of concern by a few brokers that the Mortgage Brokerage of the Year award (with 25 employees or more) ignored individual offices and focused too heavily on the broker networks.

The 2011 CMP Awards are being held, once again, at the Liberty Grand in Toronto. The gala will have a Las Vegas theme this year and take place on April 29, 2011. Last year’s CMP awards show attracted over 500 guests.

Nominations will remain open until January 21, 2011, and the finalists will be revealed in the March 2011 issue of Canadian Mortgage Professional magazine.
