Vice President, Mortgage
Portfolio Management

Reporting to the Chief
Operating Officer, the Vice President, Mortgage Portfolio Management provides
credit underwriting, risk/return management and mortgage portfolio management
and is responsible for: Planning, organizing, and directing Fisgard Asset
Management’s lending services and direct oversight of the mortgage loan
portfolio performance, specifically residential and commercial mortgages
through the whole lending lifecycle. Contributes to and ensures that lending
operations are in accordance with established policies, procedures, legal and
regulatory requirements. Ensures that lending, collection and recovery
activities result in maximum volume, appropriate risk, appropriate profit, and
a minimal delinquency ratio. Supervises and appraises the activities of
employees and ensures that all services are professionally delivered and
clients are well served.

Primarily an equity lender, Fisgard provides flexible
and creative residential and commercial private mortgage solutions for
borrowers in BC & Alberta. Fisgard mortgage products range from residential
1st and 2nd second mortgages to multi-million dollar commercial, construction
and mezzanine loans.

Principal Duties:

  • Reporting to the
    Chief Operating Officer provides credit underwriting, risk/return management
    and mortgage portfolio management supporting Fisgard’s Asset Management in the
    extension of credit.
  • Responsible for
    planning, organizing, and directing Fisgard Asset Management’s lending services
    and direct oversight of the mortgage loan portfolio performance, specifically
    residential and commercial mortgages through the whole lending lifecycle.
  • Contributes to
    and ensures that lending operations are in accordance with established
    policies, procedures, legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensures that
    lending, collection and recovery activities result in maximum volume,
    appropriate risk, appropriate profit, and a minimal delinquency ratio.
  • Supervises and
    appraises the activities of employees and ensures that all services are
    professionally delivered and clients are well served.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in
    management, finance, or business or sufficient years of experience at the
    management level to offset a degree.
  • Thorough
    knowledge of company loan products and applicable policies and standards.
  • The ability to
    motivate or influence others is a material part of the job, requiring a
    significant level of diplomacy and trust. Obtaining cooperation (internally
    and/or externally) is an important part of the job.
  • Understanding of
    government regulations and legal requirements involving lending, collections,
    and related functions.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 10 –
    15 years of progressive lending experience focused on retail and commercial
    mortgages in a leadership role within a financial services organization.
  • Demonstrated
    ability in all facets of credit granting, administration and recovery over a
    seven to ten year period.
  • Essential
    knowledge and skills include demonstrated business development skills,
    analytical abilities and a sound knowledge of portfolio management acquired
    through the administration of a credit portfolio.
  • Previous
    experience working with regulators in a financial services environment.
  • Demonstrated
    experience presenting and working with Executive Management and Clients.
