Firm Capital Corporation is a leading non-bank lender providing innovative construction, bridge, equity and conventional real estate financing to builders, developers and owners of real estate throughout Canada. Amongst the managed lending entities, Firm Capital has an entity, Firm Capital Mortgage Investment Corporation, that trades on the TSX under the symbol FC.

Reporting to the Vice President of Finance, the Director, Mortgage Administration & Servicing is responsible for mortgage administration, servicing, payments, regulatory form management and the processing of loan files for all of Firm Capital’s mortgage investments.

Summary Responsibilities:

  • Approval of loan file and system setup prior to and subsequent to funding of mortgages;
  • Ensure all final closing reports are received from the solicitor and loan file
  • documentation is received;
  • Allocation of new funding to Portfolio Accountants;
  • Review and approve Discharge Statements prior to release;
  • Ensure timely processing of discharges;
  • Ensure timely execution of payment processing;
  • Liaison with borrowers;
  • Monitor insurance and PPSA renewals;
  • Oversee property tax account administration;
  • Approval of renewal agreement documentation;
  • Monitor payments and mortgage arrears;
  • Manage legal proceedings;
  • Review forbearance statements;
  • Ensure loan files are current in accordance with corporate policies and
  • procedures;
  • Ensure files are maintained and updated accordingly;
  • Manage Letters of Credit from Borrowers;
  • Provide assistance and respond to queries from senior management; and
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned.


Education & Experience:

  • 10 to 15 years working experience with at least 7 to 10 years related experience in mortgage underwriting;
  • University degree preferable, but not required;
  • Strong technical skills;
  • Familiarity with mortgage accounting and reporting systems,
  • Strong computer skills with a high level of skill in Microsoft Office, with extensive Excel skills;
  • Proven ability to create a strong control environment;
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills;
  • Detail oriented and focused on accuracy;
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision;
  • Ability to work under pressure with deadlines;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Trustworthy and highly ethical;
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills; and
  • Team player
