The successful candidate will work closely with the CMI’s brokerage relationship team to grow our partner network, which ranges from independent mortgage brokers to large corporate brokerage relationships. About the Role
Reporting to the Director, Brokerage Relations, the Business Development Officer will help to grow CMI’s industry profile and share of the non-bank financial services market. With a focus on forging long-term relationships as the private lending partner of choice for the mortgage broker community, you will generate private lending opportunities and work closely with our underwriting team to ensure a seamless, client-centric experience, from deal submission through to funding.
Act as a brand ambassador in communicating the CMI Difference – our unique value proposition as Canada’s premier private lender – to elevate CMI’s industry profile and generate new private lending opportunities, including both face-to-face engagements and online;
Build and execute strategic business development and sales enablement plans to meet sales objectives and grow CMI’s regional market share;
Identify, develop and manage strong long-term relationships with individual mortgage brokers and brokerages;
Develop relationships and onboard new broker partners and ensure a consistently exceptional experience at every point of contact;
Conduct routine visits to develop and maintain strong relationships and a consistent top-of-mind presence with brokers;
Partner with underwriting team to ensure a seamless deal submission and approval process;
Proactively engage underwriting team to gather feedback on pain points to address and recommended process efficiencies that can be implemented to ensure an easy, seamless and client-centric sales process;
Deliver a consistently exceptional experience to broker partners, including being accessible, being proactive and responsive in all communications, and taking ownership to resolve any issues effectively and efficiently at the first point of contact;
Elevate and promote CMI at industry tradeshows and events;
Demonstrate thought leadership through engagement opportunities such as speaking engagements, participation in social media and online discussion groups, and acting as a panel moderator or participant at industry events;
Collaborate effectively with all internal and external business partners to contribute toward CMI’s business goals;
Keep current with industry and market trends;
Travel is required for conferences, training, and other events; and,
Other duties as assigned.
Skills and Experience
Minimum 5+ years of mortgage sales experience focused on sales through brokers.
Comprehensive knowledge of the mortgage industry.
Strong sales acumen, with a drive to succeed and a passion for making connections.
Comfortable in a performance-driven sales role with relationship building and opportunity generation as key success measures.
Proven track record of driving successful sales growth.
Demonstrated ability to use data to drive activities.
Excellent interpersonal, presentation and communication skills.
Ability to use Salesforce is strongly preferred.
Note that some travel is required for this position to attend conferences, training, presentations, and other events.
