Your Role:

As a Senior Underwriter, you’ll be responsible for adjudicating up to 5 residential mortgage applications daily from a steady source of online mortgage leads with the help of a fulfillment specialist. Minimum seven-year of recent experience. As our ideal candidate, you’d be flexible to help us cover Ontario and BC time zones. Must be currently licensed as a mortgage agent in Ontario or British Columbia.

Operational Effectiveness:

You will be assessed against objectives relating to interpersonal and sales skills, application accuracy, turn-around time, compliance, organization and efficient submissions of applications, client satisfaction, etc.

What the role is all about ... 

As a Senior Underwriter, you’ll:

  • Contribute to the effective processing and approval of online mortgage applications
  • Obtain, analyze and validate all pertinent credit information and documentation such as proof of income, down payment confirmation etc., with the help of a mortgage fulfillment officer
  • Conduct appropriate due diligence in order to meet all lender, regulatory and quality standards, including anti-money laundering and anti-terrorist financing standards and maintain our desired reputation with the public and regulators;
  • Submit mortgage applications to lenders with high accuracy
  • Obtain approvals and following-up on commitments in order to complete files within a ten-business day period.
  • Have the excellent communication and analytical skills required in order to work with underwriting supervisor, fulfillment officer and lender employees — to meet and exceed lender and client expectations.
  • Monitor file activities and bring any activities which appear worthy of further investigation to the attention of appropriate supervisor
  • Effectively communicate lending policy and procedures, instilling a thorough knowledge of our lending requirements, and qualifying parameters to consumers.
  • Ensuring the delivery of a high standard of customer service to foster overall customer satisfaction, consistent with intelliMortgage Inc.’s Policy and Procedures.
  • Facilitate prompt turnaround times, demonstrating courtesy and knowledgeable service when dealing with clients and lenders.
  • Maintain the strict confidentiality of all customer information
  • Be fully aware of and in compliance with Canada’s Privacy Protection Act

Functional Competencies:

  • High level experience in residential real estate secured lending with an eagerness to learn
  • Strong knowledge of mortgage products from multiple lenders including banks, mono-lines and credit unions
  • Effective grasp of the policies and procedures relating to credit adjudication and funding of the products.
  • Proven interpersonal and communication skills to deal with the demands of a rapidly growing online business. Excellent communication skills coupled with a deep understanding the mortgage products.
  • Sound organizational skills with ability to prioritize and give close attention to detail
  • Good understanding of the Canadian real estate market, competitor innovations, trends and developments.
  • Ability to follow company procedures designed to protect the client, maintain excellent compliance and ensure high efficiencies

What we are hoping you will bring ...

  • Post secondary degree
  • Minimum seven years of recent experience as a mortgage agent
  • Completed Mortgage Agent Course (AMP designation ideal)
  • A current active mortgage agent license in Ontario
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills
  • Good personal credit with no past bankruptcies or consumer proposals
  • Working knowledge of using Filogix Expert, AdobeSign, AcrobatPro, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Outstanding Sales skills
